Traditional Revivals (Anogyra)

Anogyra Village is a picturesque spot situated on the Southern slopes of the Troodos massif, overlooking the bay of Pissouri, just a few kilometers off the Lemessos-Pafos highway. For centuries this village is surrounded by carob orchards, and is best known for its unique carob based all natural products, such as pasteli, known for their high nutritional value. Known as the “Black Gold” of Cyprus, has fed thousands of children during the 2nd World war.

This family business is running for 40 years now, conveying the traditional art of the brand Pasteli as inherited. Let’s watch this hard and complex process.

Halloumi cheese is considered the pre-eminent Cypriot cheese product. A hand written document of 1556 by the Doge Leonardo Dona, testifies that the famous Cyprus cheese was known before the conquest of the island by the Turks in 1571. The owner of the workshop is ready to demonstrate us the traditional method of production, and enjoy a rich breakfast with fresh dairy products.
